Ceramics Handbuilding & Foundations 101 teaches the three main types of clay handbuildng: pinch pots, coil building, and slab building. Additionally, the instructor teaches various ceramics techniques and skills during each session to help beginner & intermediate ceramicists advance their skills. With 12 hours of instruction, including glazing, you will go home with several uniquely finished pieces. With the course covering both the foundations of handbuilding and additional finishing and surface design techniques, this course is perfect for both beginners and intermediate students or those looking to supplement to a wheel-throwing practice. What you'll learn: Introduction to Ceramics: Understand the basics of ceramic handbuilding, including forming, drying, bisque firing, glazing and high firing. Pinch Pot Technique: Learn the pinch pot method and apply it to create a functional or sculptural piece. Coil Building Technique: Master coil building using both hand-rolled coils and a wall extruder, focusing on blending and shaping techniques. Slab Rolling & Texture Application: Gain hands-on experience using a slab roller and texture stamps to form geometric shapes like boxes. Basic Glazing: Demonstrate basic glazing techniques including wax resist bottoms and single dip glazing. We do not have a waitlist for classes. Please check our website or Instagram for last-minute availability. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Cancellation Policy
18+ FACILITY: Coco-op is an adult facility. All students must be 18 or older to register. Please arrange child care, if necessary. REFUNDS: Coco-op is unable to offer refunds or make-up sessions for missed classes after the course has started. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that they are available for all class sessions. CANCELLATION POLICY: Students must cancel their registration at least 48 hours in advance to receive a full refund. Up to 24 hours before class begins, we will refund up to 75% of the registration fee. If you do not hear back about a refund, your refund will be honored based on the date of the email. Please be patient, as we are a small team. CLASS FEES: Our class fees directly cover instructor pay, facility use, and class supplies. Late cancellations make it difficult for us to fill the class at the last minute—and cover those costs. For that reason, we are unable to offer refunds for cancellations made on the day of the first class or later.
